You Don't Have to
Navigate This Alone.
Free monthly conversations about family life after gray divorce.
Gray divorce changes more than a marriage.
It can change family roles, traditions, relationships, expectations—and the way parents and adult children understand one another.
Navigating Together is a place to talk about those changes.
Once a month, Navigating the Gray hosts Pat Fenner and Kimberly Scott bring together divorced parents, adult children of divorce, and others touched by later-life divorce for an honest, thoughtful conversation on Zoom.
This isn't a webinar where you sit quietly while someone talks at you.
It isn't therapy or a formal support group.
It's a conversation.
You're welcome to share your experience. You're equally welcome to simply listen. Either way, you'll have an opportunity to hear perspectives you may not encounter anywhere else—including perspectives from the other side of the family experience.
Sometimes what helps us move forward isn't another piece of advice.
It's hearing something we hadn't considered before.
Each Navigating Together conversation gives you an opportunity to:
Hear both sides of the family story.
We bring the divorced-parent and adult-child perspectives into the same conversation.
Realize you're not the only one navigating this.
Hear from people wrestling with many of the same questions, changes, and family dynamics.
See familiar situations through a different lens.
Listening to another perspective can help us recognize things we couldn't see from where we were standing.
Find language for difficult conversations.
Our guided questions can help you think about what you want to say—and what you might want to ask.
Reflect without pressure to "fix" anything.
There's no requirement to reconcile, forgive, agree, or arrive at a particular answer.
Make room for what comes next.
These conversations are about more than what happened. They're about understanding where you are now and considering what you want your relationships and family life to look like going forward.

A different conversation every month.
Every gathering is built around a different aspect of family life after gray divorce.
Pat and Kimberly begin with a short exploration of the month's topic from two perspectives: divorced parent and adult child.
Then we open the conversation.
We'll offer thoughtful prompts and questions, invite participants to share if they'd like, and make room for the kind of honest exchange that can be difficult to find in everyday life.
Come with a story.
There's room for you here.
Upcoming Conversations
Navigating the Holidays
The holidays have a way of magnifying family dynamics. Who goes where? How do we divide our time? What happens to traditions? What about new partners? And how do we stop making adult children responsible for making sure everyone is happy?
We'll talk about the expectations we carry into the holidays, what parents and adult children wish the other understood, and how "different" can become something other than "less than."

Let's Navigate Together—in Person!
Instead of our regular Zoom conversation, November gives us an opportunity to take these conversations deeper at our special Navigating the Gray LIVE gathering.
We'll bring both sides of the family story into the same room for an afternoon of conversation, reflection, new perspectives, and imagining what becomes possible when we begin to see our stories differently.
Learn More About NTG LIVE!Navigating the Conversations We're NOT Having
Some conversations become difficult because of everything we don't say. What do we wish the other person understood? What questions have we been afraid to ask?
We'll explore the conversations that can feel complicated after gray divorce—and what might become possible when we approach them with curiosity instead of assumptions.

Navigating New Traditions
After a family changes, some traditions remain meaningful. Others may no longer fit.
So how do we decide what to keep, what to change, and what we're ready to release?
We'll explore how parents and adult children can make room for new traditions without feeling as though they're erasing the past—and how something new can honor what mattered while making room for the family as it exists today.

Because sometimes we don't need someone to tell us which version of the story is right.
We need an opportunity to see more of the story.
